Description

This is a personal artwork of Náriel and her ever teasing owner Arandur! She just wants that crunchy yummy goodness that is a grasshopper, Arandur! Be careful, or she might make YOU a snack. *giggles* No, she loves her owner. She's a good girl. :3
(also I was SO hungry when I started this the other day, and now I am hungry again)

I went all out on this as a gift to my Gagey :icongage-puhp: Who is always there for me, no matter what. He works so hard at his job every day, and still comes home with a smile on his face and a hug. Also! He has been promoted recently! I love you so much, and I am so proud of you and all you do. I am so happy you are my husband. <3

A story to this, by Gage:

It was a long day, Arandur has been on the hunt for several hours, watching it as it
continued to evade him, one hop at a time. It was a grasshopper, he tracked it following
the tracks it left behind in the dirt. He knew he was getting closer and knew it was aware
that it was being hunted as well.  Arandur had to keep to the low branches, knowing that it was
expecting a ground threat.

He could see it, its green camouflage like color with the red on its hind legs that stuck out among the grass. It
was several paces ahead of him. The little hunter knew this would make a delicious meal for
Náriel, if only he could catch it. Náriel deserved such a treat after helping him to
"borrow" countless shiny objects. They were oh so shiny!

The grasshopper continued to stay on the move. It knew an enemy was close,
but he assumed it didn't know where. Its strategy was to keep moving until it
couldn't go any longer. That was also the strategy that Arandur had. He scared it
purposely several hours back to make it start moving, and has continued to scare it
to keep it moving. While he continued to use very little energy following it. The
grasshoppers jumps were becoming much less apart. Soon it would be ready for him
to attack.

Arandur couldn't take it on at its full potential one kick with its legs could potentially
injure him. Watching the grasshopper and now waiting
for it to stop, Arandur was now directly above it the evasive grasshopper . Once it ceased its movement he'd pounce on it, blade drawn, aiming for its head.
Hopefully this attack would leave little to no struggle, and would be swift and almost painless for both involved.

It continued to go another ten huge hops before it slowed, and then stopped. Arandur followed it from one
tree to another, almost making a sound as he slipped on one of the branches. Any alert could send this prey hopping or flying faster away. That would be very bad for Arandur, as he'd likely lose his game.
Due to the grasshopper's steady pace and not wavering in direction, Arandur gathered the grasshopper was heading for a home. If the grasshopper was running for shelter, he'd need to end this hunt sooner rather than later.

The time came as the grasshopper stopped next to a rock; it hid halfway under the
rock, its head peeking out. Waiting for the right moment to strike, Arandur jumped from a branch 4 feet
off the ground. Fixated on his target, he aimed and striked with full momentum, hitting
the shell of of the head right down the middle. His blade drove through the exoskeleton like butter.
There was no struggle or any attempt at fighting back, and
the grasshopper now lay limp beside him.

After cleaning off the blood from his blade Arandur removed his armor and put it in his pack.

"Now to go back and give this delicious treat to Náriel." He smiled, cheerfully. Nariel sure loved her hoppers.

He slung it over his shoulder and started the 2 hours trek back home. Arandur was luckily
still in Fearin territory. This made it so he didn't have to worry about anyone stealing his
own trophy, but just a precaution he wrapped it in a leaf.

...

When he arrived back at the base of Okaiu, Náriel was waiting. She was nudging him excitedly, and sniffing at her Master.
Arandur had been gone a long while, so she was so glad that he was back. She smelled that
he had something for her and started nuzzling at the leaf behind him.

He took his time unloading everything. Knowing that Náriel would wait, almost bursting with curiosity, but she would wait. He continued to  take his time unloading making the leaf the last thing he unpacked. When he was all
done he slowly unwrapped the leaf and showed the grasshopper under it.

"Is this what you were looking for? Huh? Huh?" He smirked as he asked Náriel.

She started to hop around in circles wanting to eat it. He jumped up on a dead log and
showed it in front of her.

"Want it? Do ya?" He grinned and teased her,  waving it back and forth. She nudged at it and snapped playfully.

"Alright" He smirked you can have it.

With a swift motion he pulled off one of its legs for himself and gave the rest to Náriel, throwing it high, which she gulped
up in two large bites. Arandur sat on the log and took his time gnawing on the leg.
